To the relevant authorities:

I write to request the unconditional, immediate release of Aghiad Dil'een from detention in
Syria’s security system.

Aghiad Dil'een, of Daraya
Damascus Syria is 15 years old and a 9th grade student was taken to detention on 16-Nov-2011There is a concern that during his detention he has been tortured repeatedly and coerced to confess crimes that he has not committed.  Arbitrary detention is illegal according to Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, endorsed by Syria in 1969 and 1976.

In addition, I remind you that torture is illegal in Syria, according to Article 28 (3) of the Syrian Constitution. The Penal Code of Syria stipulates punishment for anyone inflicting torture.

I hold the Syrian government responsible for the safe return of Aghiad Dil'een. I further request that all prisoners of conscience should be released immediately and unconditionally.

Aghiad Dil'een

Sincerely,
