To the relevant authorities:

I write to request the unconditional, immediate release of  Tamim Kamal Salloum from detention in Syria’s security system.

Tamim Kamal Salloum, of Shahba, Suwayda  Syria is a Student minor. He was arrested for participating in nonviolent Dignity Strike demonstration in Shahba, Suwayda  Syria  and taken into detention on 15-Dec-2011.  Arbitrary detention is illegal according to Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, endorsed by Syria in 1969 and 1976. Tamim Kamal Salloum  is a 17 year old nonviolent individual that should be returned to his family home immediately .

In addition, I remind you that torture is illegal in Syria, according to Article 28 (3) of the Syrian Constitution. The Penal Code of Syria stipulates punishment for anyone inflicting torture.

I hold the Syrian government responsible for the safe return of  Tamim Kamal Salloum. I further request that all prisoners of conscience should be released immediately and unconditionally.
