Form letter to authorities unconditional, immediate release of Political prisoner in Syria

Here is a form letter that can be used for a political prisoner of the nonviolent nature (Fastest Go-Green) send by email to Fellowship of Reconciliation    http://forusa.org/contact#contactform They will forward a copy to proper authorities like the Arab League and the United Nations Human Rights Council Commission of Inquiry on Syria.

To the relevant authorities:

I write to request the unconditional, immediate release of ___________ from detention in Syria’s security system.

_________, was detained on __________. Arbitrary detention is illegal according to Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, endorsed by Syria in 1969 and 1976.

In addition, I remind you that torture is illegal in Syria, according to Article 28 (3) of the Syrian Constitution. The Penal Code of Syria stipulates punishment for anyone inflicting torture.

I hold the Syrian government responsible for the safe return of ___________. I further request that all prisoners of conscience should be released immediately and unconditionally.
